About the role

Lead the platform. Empower engineers. Shape the future.

Are you a technical leader who enjoys building great engineering teams, improving platforms, and making technology work smarter?
We're looking for a Platform Engineering Manager to join a growing technology organisation where you'll have the opportunity to shape the future direction of cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and engineering operations.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to technology while also having the opportunity to mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and drive meaningful improvements across the business.
The opportunity ☁️You'll take ownership of a broad technology landscape, helping evolve the platforms, processes, and practices that enable teams to deliver reliable and secure software.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Leading and supporting a team across Cloud, DevOps, and Systems Engineering.
  • Helping define and execute the roadmap for cloud platforms, infrastructure, and internal technology.
  • Improving engineering capability through automation, better tooling, and modern delivery practices.
  • Partnering with engineering teams to improve release processes, environments, and developer experience.
  • Driving improvements across platform reliability, performance, security, and operational maturity.
  • Championing practices that reduce manual effort, improve visibility, and make teams more effective.
  • Supporting technology risk management, security initiatives, and audit requirements.
  • Working closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to deliver solutions that support business growth.
What we're looking for 🌱You'll be someone who enjoys solving complex problems, bringing people together, and continuously improving how technology teams operate.

You'll likely bring:
  • Experience leading Cloud, Platform, Infrastructure, or DevOps engineering teams.
  • A strong background owning and supporting production cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure).
  • Experience improving CI/CD practices, automation, and software delivery processes.
  • A good understanding of security, vulnerability management, and operational best practices.
  • The ability to balance technical decision-making with business priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience within SaaS, financial/banking/ services, or other highly regulated environments would be advantageous.
Why this role? This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact. You'll have the autonomy to influence technology direction, improve engineering practices, and help create an environment where engineers can do their best work.
You'll join a collaborative team that values curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning, with the opportunity to shape how technology evolves within the organisation.
Additional informationThis is a permanent, full-time role based in Wellington CBD.
The role participates in the production support escalation process. While after-hours incidents are uncommon, you'll need to be comfortable being part of the escalation pathway and supporting Priority 1 (P1) production incidents when required.
