The opportunity

This is a hands-on Senior Quality Engineer role within an engineering team building an AI-powered platform used to support complex research and decision-making workflows.

You’ll help strengthen release confidence by understanding important customer journeys, identifying meaningful risks, improving automated coverage and carrying out focused manual verification where it matters. Quality strategy sits with the pod leads; your role is to bring specialist testing expertise, practical improvements and sound release judgement as the product continues to develop.

This could suit someone newly established at senior level, a strong intermediate ready to step up, or an experienced senior who wants to stay close to the tools, testing and product detail.

The role
* Maintain and extend Playwright, or equivalent, integration and E2E automation 
* Use AI-assisted testing and coding tools, while critically reviewing their output 
* Run focused manual regression and exploratory testing for key releases 
* Build repeatable release plans covering customer journeys, edge cases and known gaps 
* Assess risk, explain customer impact and identify genuine release blockers 
* Investigate routine CI, test data, authentication and environment issues 
* Turn defects and repeated manual checks into maintainable automated coverage 
* Work with engineers, product and design to clarify expected behaviour early 
* Make tested scope, data checks and remaining release risks visible across pods 

Your fit
* You can build reliable automated tests and diagnose flaky checks 
* You understand complex workflows and can find consequential edge cases 
* You actively use AI in testing or engineering and can explain how you verify its output 
* You are confident troubleshooting routine CI, fixture, data and environment problems 
* You can inspect APIs and data, including SQL where needed 
* You communicate risk clearly and pragmatically 
* You are motivated by a mix of manual verification and better automation 
* You bring sound judgement, not just a current job title
