Direct Marketing Manager

At SBS Bank, we’re looking for an experienced Direct Marketing Manager who knows how to turn insight, data and customer understanding into targeted, high-impact communications that build engagement and deliver results. This is a permanent, full-time salaried role of 37.5 hours per week, based on site in Invercargill.

Why this role?
This role gives you the opportunity to shape how SBS Bank engages with members. Reporting to the Member Engagement Lead, you'll lead the planning, delivery and optimisation of targeted marketing and communication programmes, working closely with teams across the bank and external partners. Using member insights, campaign performance and commercial thinking, you'll help drive engagement, strengthen member relationships and support key business objectives.

• Lead the planning, delivery and optimisation of targeted direct marketing and member communications programmes across key lifecycle stages and business priorities.
• Manage and optimise multi-channel campaigns across email, app, SMS, web and paid media.
• Identify opportunities to increase member engagement, product adoption, retention and growth.
• Use member insights, segmentation and campaign performance data to inform planning and improve outcomes.
• Develop and coordinate compelling, member-focused content that supports engagement, education and change initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement across marketing technology, automation, processes and ways of working.

 
What you’ll bring:
As an experienced direct marketing professional, you’ll understand how to engage members with the right message, at the right time, through the right channel. You’ll be confident balancing strategy with delivery, bringing strong judgement and a practical, hands-on approach.

The essential skills and experience we’re looking for:

• At least five years’ experience in marketing and communications, with strong exposure to direct marketing, customer engagement, retention or lifecycle communications.
• Experience using marketing automation platforms, customer segmentation and campaign management tools.
• Strong analytical capability, applying member insights and campaign performance data to optimise results.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and deliver through others.
• A tertiary qualification in marketing, communications or a related discipline.

The desirable skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Experience briefing and coordinating agencies, suppliers or internal delivery partners.
• Experience in banking, financial services or a highly regulated environment is desirable.
