Are you a Software Developer who enjoys building great products, solving interesting problems and working with people who genuinely care about what they create?
We’re looking for a Software Developer with strong modern Java experience to join a growing SaaS product team.
You’ll be working on a well-established cloud-based platform used by thousands of businesses across New Zealand and Australia, helping evolve a product that operates at serious scale.
This is a great opportunity to work with modern Java technologies, Spring, AWS and RESTful APIs while contributing to new features, product improvements and the ongoing evolution of a successful SaaS platform.

💻 What you’ll be working with

• Java 21 or recent versions of Java
• Spring / Spring Boot
• RESTful APIs and backend development
• AWS and cloud-based applications
• Secure software development practices
• Databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB or similar
• Agile ways of working, including Scrum, Kanban and Lean

You’ll be working on mission-critical software at scale, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys getting into complex problems, thinking things through and finding practical solutions.

🌱 What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have 5+ years of commercial software development experience, particularly building backend systems and APIs using Java and Spring.
More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:

• Enjoys solving problems rather than simply ticking tickets off a board
• Takes pride in writing clean, secure and maintainable code
• Can communicate ideas clearly and work well with others
• Enjoys sharing knowledge and learning from the people around them
• Is comfortable working in a modern SaaS environment
• Wants to have a genuine impact on the products they build

You don't need to tick every box. If you're a strong Java developer who enjoys building great software, we'd still like to hear from you.

✨ Nice to have

It would be great if you also had experience with:

• React or other modern frontend technologies
• Redis
• Elasticsearch / OpenSearch
• Other database technologies
• Broader web application development

📍 A few things to know
This is an office-first role based in Wellington, Monday to Friday, so you'll need to be Wellington-based and comfortable working from the office (Flexibility around children pick-ups etc.)
You’ll also need NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
