Senior Business Analyst
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a portfolio of technology and business transformation initiatives within a values-led organisation undertaking significant digital modernisation.
You’ll initially work across a finance system upgrade involving Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and a records integrity initiative. This is a hands-on role for a pragmatic BA who can move confidently between business and technology teams, bring structure to complex work, and support stakeholders as the organisation strengthens its Agile and product-focused ways of working.
What you’ll be doing
- Engaging with business, product, project and technical stakeholders to understand their needs
- Facilitating workshops and leading requirements-gathering activities
- Developing user stories, process maps, business and functional requirements, and acceptance criteria
- Analysing current and future-state processes and identifying improvement opportunities
- Supporting backlog refinement, sprint planning, testing and business readiness
- Contributing to business cases, benefits definition, project planning and solution assessments
- Helping stakeholders navigate new systems, processes and ways of working
- Identifying and communicating risks, issues and dependencies
- Providing guidance and support to less experienced Business Analysts where required
What we’re looking for
You’ll bring at least five years’ experience as a Business Analyst across technology and transformation initiatives, along with:
- Strong process analysis, requirements elicitation and workshop facilitation skills
- The ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments, including user stories, backlogs and sprint-based delivery
- A practical understanding of both Agile and traditional delivery approaches
- Experience with cloud, SaaS, CRM, finance systems, digital products or similar transformation programmes
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills
- The confidence to work effectively in an evolving delivery environment
The environment
You’ll join a collaborative, purpose-driven organisation whose work delivers meaningful outcomes for the communities it serves. Its culture is grounded in professionalism, unity, respect and integrity, with te ao Māori and tikanga Māori forming an important part of the working environment.
You don’t need to be fluent in te reo Māori or have previously worked within a Māori organisation. What matters is that you bring respect, curiosity, humility and a genuine willingness to participate, learn and contribute.
Additional details
- Wellington-based contract through to 31 March 2027
- Five days per week onsite initially
- The opportunity to apply for one work-from-home day per week after approximately three months
- Approximately six days of Christmas closedown
If you’re a seasoned Senior BA who enjoys meaningful transformation work, building strong stakeholder relationships and helping organisations mature their delivery practices, we’d love to hear from you.
