Cloud and Platform Engineer
About the role
The opportunity
This is a hands-on senior engineering role for someone who likes owning platforms properly, not just keeping them ticking over.
You’ll take responsibility for core cloud and endpoint platforms across a New Zealand environment, with a focus on reliability, security, automation and continuous improvement. The work is broad: Microsoft 365, Intune, identity, conditional access, endpoint architecture, patching, monitoring, compliance evidence and complex incident resolution.
You’ll work closely with modern workplace and security specialists, helping shape a cloud-first environment that is secure, well-managed and easier to support over time.
About the role
You’ll be joining a globally connected organisation with a strong focus on quality, collaboration and continuous improvement. The technology environment is mature, security-aware and audit-conscious, with a team culture built around trust, clear ownership and practical problem solving.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Engineering and optimising Microsoft 365 services, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Teams
- Managing Intune, Autopilot, compliance policies, configuration profiles and application deployment standards
- Maintaining conditional access policies, identity lifecycle integration and tenant configuration hygiene
- Building automation using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph and Intune scripting
- Translating security requirements into enforceable M365 and endpoint controls
- Supporting ISO 27001-aligned controls, audit evidence and compliance reporting
- Leading complex incident and problem resolution across identity, endpoint and M365 platforms
- Planning and implementing technical changes with clear risk, rollback and evidence capture
- Mentoring modern workplace and service desk colleagues through documentation and knowledge sharing
- Senior engineering experience in a cloud-first environment
- Strong hands-on skills across Microsoft 365, Intune, Teams and identity/access fundamentals
- Confidence with PowerShell scripting and automation
- Experience with conditional access, patching, configuration, monitoring and incident resolution
- Good documentation habits across tickets, changes and knowledge articles
- Experience working in controlled, audit-driven or security-conscious environments
- A practical communication style, especially when explaining technical issues to non-technical people
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot enablement, DLP, information governance, legal technology platforms, ITIL, or Microsoft certifications would be useful, but not essential.
