About the role

The opportunity

This is a hands-on Senior Systems Engineer role for someone who enjoys owning infrastructure projects, solving complex technical problems and helping a technology environment mature.

You’ll join an established technology team and take the lead on key infrastructure initiatives across the organisation. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, vendors and technical teams to design, implement and improve systems that keep the business running smoothly. Alongside project delivery, you’ll act as an escalation point for Tier 2 engineers, provide guidance across operational issues, and help ensure platforms are secure, reliable and well documented.

Based in Queenstown, you’ll have world-class skiing, biking, hiking, trail running and lake life right on your doorstep.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing and delivering infrastructure projects in line with best practice 
• Leading technical implementation across systems, networks, cloud and security 
• Supporting go-lives, new initiatives and wider technology improvements 
• Acting as an escalation point for infrastructure and network incidents 
• Supporting system maintenance, vendor updates and security patching 
• Administering software builds, configurations and operating systems 
• Monitoring capacity and performance across Microsoft 365 and Azure environments 
• Producing documentation, training material and progress reporting 
• Ensuring changes follow agreed change and release processes 
• Building strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors and internal teams 

The skills and experience we need you to bring

• Strong experience as a Senior Systems Engineer or high-level infrastructure engineer 
• Proven experience delivering infrastructure projects, not just BAU support 
• Experience working across multi-location environments 
• Strong Microsoft 365, Azure and on-premise infrastructure capability 
• Networking, systems administration and troubleshooting experience 
• Confidence supporting and mentoring Tier 2 engineers 
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders 
• A proactive approach to improving systems, processes and performance 

Nice to have

• Experience with domain consolidation 
• Certifications or strong capability across Aruba, VMware, Fortigate, Cisco or Microsoft 365 
• PowerShell scripting experience across on-premise and Azure environments
