DevOps Engineer
About the role
We’re partnering with a Christchurch based client to find a DevOps Engineer to help build and run reliable, scalable platforms and deployment pipelines. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to improve delivery speed, stability, and visibility across applications and infrastructure. Candidates must be Christchurch based, or prepared to relocate for the position.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins)
- Develop scripts and automation for build, test, deploy, and environment management (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
- Use Git based source control and integrate tools across the delivery toolchain (testing, security, observability)
- Set up and configure monitoring, logging, and alerting from scratch (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, cloud native tools)
- Contribute to infrastructure as code and configuration management (e.g. Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation, Ansible)
- Work with developers and platform engineers on deployment patterns (including Docker) and environment security (including firewalls)
- Solid experience in DevOps and related engineering roles
- Hands on CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell and/or Python)
- Experience with Git based workflows and automating repetitive tasks
- Proven experience setting up monitoring and logging from scratch
- Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), containers and basic security (e.g. firewalls)
- Clear communicator who enjoys collaborating with developers, QA, and operations
