The Opportunity:

Our client, a leading financial services organisation, is undergoing an exciting multi-year transformation programme centred around modernising their core banking platform. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of banking technology in New Zealand.

As Enterprise Architect  you'll provide strategic leadership and governance of the core ledger architecture, enabling the successful modernisation of the core banking platform. You'll shape the target-state architecture, guide migration to new core banking capabilities, and ensure seamless integration with the wider enterprise ecosystem.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of business strategy and technology, influencing critical architectural decisions that will impact customers, employees, and the organisation's long-term success.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Defining and evolving the target architecture for the Core Ledger domain, including retail core banking capabilities
• Leading the architecture for migrating to a new retail core, ensuring safe transition and retirement of legacy platforms
• Shaping integration between core ledger and key enterprise domains (customer, integration, product, regulatory/reporting)
• Ensuring alignment between domain architectures and enterprise target state across business, data, integration, and technology
• Leading and supporting an architecture team through design reviews, assurance, and governance forums
• Identifying and managing architectural risks, dependencies, and constraints
• Collaborating with business, technology, risk, and vendor partners to evaluate options and drive sound architecture decisions
• Contributing to Enterprise Architecture maturity through standards, patterns, governance, and mentoring

What You'll Bring:

• Significant experience as an Enterprise or Domain Architect within large, complex organisations
• Deep understanding of banking products and core ledger platforms, ideally within retail banking environments
• Strong track record supporting large-scale platform migrations or transformations, including coexistence and transition states
• Solid grounding in modern integration architecture, data flows, and event-driven patterns
• Understanding of regulatory, financial, and reporting implications of core ledger design in banking
• Proven ability to translate business strategy into coherent target-state architectures
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at multiple levels
• Clear communication skills, able to explain complex architectural concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
• Related tertiary degree, preferably in computer science or similar
• Knowledge of BIAN and modern architecture practices
• Experience with regulated industries (PCI DSS, APRA, RBNZ, CCCFA)
• Solid knowledge of payments and core systems, including NZ and international IMT
• Working knowledge of regulatory, legal, compliance, and operational reporting requirements in NZ
• AWS cloud architect or engineer certifications
