The Opportunity
This is a chance to shape how a data platform evolves, while still getting stuck into the work day-to-day. You’ll help take an existing proof-of-concept and re-platform it into something scalable, reliable, and ready to grow. 

You’ll work closely with product and stakeholders to turn roadmap into executable technical plan, then build the ingestion, processing, storage and presentation pieces that make it real. If you enjoy pragmatic decision-making, improving platforms iteratively, and creating systems that need to be accurate and dependable, this one will suit.

A New Zealand organisation in the dairy/agri-tech space, building a data platform that brings together information from multiple on-farm systems to support benchmarking and better decision-making.


The Role

• Own and guide the technical evolution and architecture of the platform
• Design data ingestion, processing, storage, application, and presentation layers
• Build and maintain application features, APIs, and data pipelines
• Re-platform and optimise an existing proof-of-concept for scale and reliability
• Integrate external data sources (including IoT, wearables, and farm systems)
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and timeliness for insights and benchmarking
• Support reliability and security best practice in partnership with Group IT
• Produce clear documentation and mentor/enable others where needed 

Your Fit

• Strong modern software development experience (web/cloud/data technologies)
• Proven capability designing scalable architectures (and making trade-offs)
• Solid database, data modelling, and integration experience
• Confident building and integrating APIs (including lifecycle management)
• Comfortable in evolving environments; pragmatic, delivery-focused communicator
• Nice to have: streaming/sensor data, agriculture domain exposure, BI/visualisation, re-platforming legacy/prototypes
