About the role

GROUP DIGITAL PLANNING AND DELIVERY MANAGER

PGG Wrightson (PGW) is a leading provider of products and services to New Zealand’s agricultural and horticultural sectors, helping to grow the country through its knowledge, service and expertise.
PGW has recently refreshed its Technology Strategy and Investment Roadmap, building on the progress already made in modernising its technology foundations. The business is now investing in multiple new roles to support the next phase of its technology transformation. These roles will strengthen how PGW delivers for its people and customers, and ensure technology remains tightly aligned to the overall business strategy.
Senior technology leaders will be instrumental in shaping the future of technology at PGW. This is an opportunity to help set strategic direction, mature the operating model, lift critical capability, and drive sustainable, enterprise-wide digital engagement. PGW is looking for leaders who are passionate about change, can embed effective ways of working, foster a strong culture, and ensure the Group Technology function operates as a connected, high performing team.

About the role
We are now seeking an experienced Group Digital Planning and Delivery Manager to define PGG Wrightson’s digital roadmap and lead the planning and delivery of technology initiatives that enable business strategy, lift customer experience, and deliver measurable value.

Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, you will provide strategic leadership across digital planning, portfolio management, and delivery for PGG Wrightson. This role connects strategy to execution, ensuring digital initiatives are well prioritised, governed, and delivered in line with enterprise objectives.
You will lead a multi‑disciplinary team across architecture, delivery, service design and supplier management, and work closely with senior leaders to align technology investment with business priorities.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and own PGG Wrightson’s digital roadmap and delivery approach
  • Align digital initiatives with enterprise strategy and business priorities
  • Lead portfolio prioritisation, sequencing and benefits realisation
  • Provide strong governance, risk management and visibility of delivery
  • Build and develop delivery, architecture and service design capability
  • Strengthen business engagement and reduce shadow IT
  • Champion user centred, outcome focused digital delivery
About you
You are an experienced digital leader with a strong strategic mindset and a track record of delivering complex technology portfolios. You are comfortable operating at executive level and can balance a long-term digital vision with pragmatic, incremental delivery. You’ll bring:
  • Extensive experience leading digital or technology planning and delivery functions
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, portfolio governance and delivery models
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi‑disciplinary teams
  • Experience influencing executive stakeholders and aligning competing priorities
  • A practical, business focused approach to digital transformation
Experience in large, operationally complex and customer facing organisations will be highly regarded.

Why work for us
Our employees enjoy a range of corporate benefits, including staff discounts, flu vaccinations, discounted medical insurance, and access to our Occupational Counselling Programme (OCP).
We’re proud of the strong sense of belonging across our teams, whether you’re in the field, in a branch, or in one of our support offices. When you join PGG Wrightson, you join a business with a long history, strong values, and a genuine commitment to helping grow the country together.
