This role suits someone comfortable operating between technical teams and the wider business. You’ll lead the design, provisioning, and ongoing management of secure, reliable, and scalable environments across Azure and on-prem infrastructure, with exposure to broader hybrid patterns.
Stakeholder engagement is a core part of the role. You’ll work closely with architects, project managers, operations, and application teams to understand requirements, clarify constraints, and guide teams toward practical outcomes. You’ll bring structure to environment planning including refresh cycles, dependencies, access, and downtime, while improving how environments are delivered through better use of automation, repeatable build approaches, and stronger engineering practices.

The Role:
- Lead the design, provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of secure environments across cloud and on-prem
- Act as the key point of coordination for environments, including refresh cycles, dependencies, access, availability, and scheduling
- Improve consistency and efficiency through automation, reusable build patterns, and modern deployment pipelines
- Translate technical requirements and limitations into clear plans, timelines, and delivery decisions
- Build strong working relationships across IT operations, architecture, project delivery, and application teams
- Manage centralised schedules for environment usage, deployments, and downtime, resolving conflicts early
- Ensure environments align to security, privacy, and operational standards and contribute to resilience and DR planning
- Maintain clear documentation and drive ongoing improvements across tools and processes
- A strong background working across Azure and on-prem environments
- Strong hand’s on use of Infrastructure-as-Code, scripting, and CI/CD
- Practical knowledge of virtualisation and container platforms
- Confident communicator who can engage stakeholders, explain options, and build alignment
- Well organised, able to balance competing priorities and keep delivery on track
- Naturally improvement-focused, always looking for smarter, more reliable ways of working
