Senior Systems Engineer
About the role
The opportunity
Join a close-knit technology team where you’ll take ownership of core infrastructure across networking, servers and operating systems. This is a hands-on Senior Systems Engineer role where you’ll stabilise and improve existing platforms, lead infrastructure upgrades, strengthen security, and help lift operational standards across the wider IT function.
You’ll work end to end, from designing and implementing solutions through to supporting and improving them. Alongside technical delivery you'll contribute to standards and documentation, and play a key role in reducing risk and improving reliability.

The role
- Design, implement and support core network infrastructure including firewalls, switches and wireless
- Manage and support server environments including VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange etc
- Own and maintain security tooling
- Lead and deliver infrastructure projects, including planning, documentation and risk management
- Provide Level 3 support and assist with escalation
- Maintain backups, disaster recovery, monitoring, configuration management and runbooks
- 6+ years’ experience in a Systems Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer role
- Broad technical capability across networking, servers and operating systems
- Strong Microsoft stack experience: AD, Windows Server, Exchange hybrid, Windows 10/11, M365 and SQL
- Experience with VMware virtualisation and backup/DR practices
- Solid networking fundamentals including firewalls and switching
- Security-focused mindset with experience in patching, hardening and risk reduction
- Organised, practical and able to prioritise work in a busy environment
