The Opportunity
Join a major multi-year public sector transformation building a new client portal on a modern digital platform. The team is one year into delivery with confirmed scope for the next nine, providing rare stability and room to influence. You’ll help accelerate new workstreams ahead of a March milestone while guiding the engineering approach across AEM, React, and Java components. Expect a collaborative, multi-vendor environment where clear communication, partnership, and pragmatic leadership matter. This role is based in Wellington and requires all applicants to have permanent working rights in New Zealand to be considered.

The Role

• Provide technical leadership across AEM CMS, React UI, and Java services
• Stay close to delivery: code reviews, hands-on support, and unblocking
• Translate requirements into technical plans and sequenced work
• Lift engineering quality: patterns, standards, CI/CD, performance, security
• Collaborate with BAs, POs, designers, solution architects, and partner teams
• Guide integration and cloud-native decisions (Azure preferred)
• Support milestone planning and fast-follow feature delivery
• Start February 2026; two-stage interview process

• Strength across Java and React - AEM experience would be a huge bonus!
• Solid cloud knowledge (Azure ideal); appreciates secure, scalable design
• Proven technical leadership in complex digital platforms
