About the role
This is a senior, client-facing Principal Data Consultant role within a values-led data consultancy. You’ll work closely with customers to shape data strategy, lead technical direction, and guide teams to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong data engineering background who enjoys working at the intersection of customer engagement, strategy, and delivery, and who can lead conversations from executive level through to hands-on implementation.

Work from their Dunedin or Auckland offices, or work remotely within New Zealand with occasional travel.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead data strategy, design, and delivery across multiple client engagements.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor and long-term partner to clients.
• Lead technical strategy discussions with senior stakeholders and executives.
• Design and guide modern data platforms centred around Snowflake and cloud-native data engineering.
• Work alongside delivery teams to ensure solutions meet business outcomes and technical best practice.
• Support clients in evolving how they collect, govern, and use data, including adopting modern operating models.
• Contribute to proposals, discovery sessions, and technical workshops.
• Share knowledge internally and help lift engineering standards and methodologies across the team.

What we’re looking for

• Experience leading customer conversations and delivering outcomes in a consulting or client-facing environment.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to balance technical excellence with business objectives.
• Strong experience in data engineering and modern data platform delivery, particularly with Snowflake.
• Hands-on skills in SQL and Python, with solid understanding of modern data architecture and modelling.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to engage across technical teams and executives.
• Right to work in New Zealand.
