You’ll be the first in-house engineer, taking a solid, market-validated MVP and making it robust, scalable, and a pleasure to ship. The platform runs on EFTPOS terminals delivering real-time insights, and the business is funded with active customer adoption. You’ll lead the transition from an external build partner, set the architecture for multi-tenant growth, and prioritise an outcome-focused roadmap with leadership. It’s hands-on, pragmatic engineering with the space to lay foundations for analytics and AI - while building the standards and practices you’ll want others to follow.

The role:

• Own the stack and backlog; lead the insourcing journey
• Evolve a cloud-native, multi-tenant architecture and clean APIs
• Lift quality, security, and observability; ensure reliability and compliance
• Collaborate with leadership to prioritise and ship value fast
• Establish engineering standards, documentation, and future team patterns

Your fit:

• 5–8+ years’ software engineering experience
• Strong in 3+ areas: Kotlin/Spring Boot/PostgreSQL; React/Next.js/TypeScript; Android/Jetpack Compose; GCP/Docker/CI/CD
• Auth/security: OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, Auth0/Okta, Firebase Auth
• Comfortable with Firebase plus logging/monitoring
• Nice to have: Verifone SDK, image processing, AI/LLM, insourcing experience
