About the role
Data Engineer – Azure, Databricks, Power BI We’re looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to join a major HR & Payroll transformation programme for a large enterprise operating across Australia and New Zealand. This role will play a key part in building a unified reporting environment to support workforce, labour and payroll insights at scale.
You’ll be working in a modern Azure environment, using Databricks to ingest and transform data from multiple business systems, enabling accurate, accessible and automated reporting through Power BI. The architecture and requirements are already defined – your focus will be on delivery, pipeline development and helping shape clean data models for analytics.
What you’ll be doing
- Building and maintaining data ingestion and transformation pipelines in Azure Databricks (PySpark/SQL)
- Consolidating data from multiple HR, workforce and payroll platforms into a central Azure data environment
- Structuring and modelling data to support Power BI reporting and analytics
- Supporting the development of a scalable data lakehouse environment
- Ensuring data quality, reliability and consistency across the reporting landscape
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure + Databricks
- Skilled in PySpark, SQL and building end-to-end data pipelines
- Experience supporting or building reporting layers for Power BIExposure to HR, payroll or workforce management data is a bonus
- Strong understanding of data modelling concepts (lakehouse, star schema, semantic layers etc.)
