About the role

Job Summary:
Our client is looking for a hands-on Senior Data Engineer focused on SQL, dimensional modelling, and ETL/ELT to build and maintain reliable data warehouses and reporting. This role will be for an 18 Month Fixed Term Contract. You’ll uplift data quality and deliver pipelines that make insights dependable. Expect to work across business and technical teams, translate requirements into robust models and pipelines, and help set sensible data standards. We will be looking at candidates based in Invercargill or Southland/Central Otago with ability travel to Invercargill regularly.


The Role:
-Design and implement dimensional model
-Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines
-Own data warehouse development and upkeep
-Enable reporting (Power BI, SSRS, Tableau)
-Ingest disparate sources; improve data quality and governance
-Collaborate with business and engineering; full SDLC participation
-Coordinate small deliverables/projects when needed


Your Fit:
-Strong SQL expertise including complex query writing, performance tuning and data modeling
-Proven data warehouse development/maintenance experience
-Reporting tool experience (Power BI/SSRS/Tableau)
-Understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks
-Comfortable engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders
-Exposure to full SDLC environments
-You must have current and valid New Zealand work authorisation
