About the role
The opportunity
You’ll take ownership of core infrastructure - physical and virtual servers, networks, and security, while pitching in on the service desk and delivering projects that improve reliability and performance. It’s a broad role with genuine impact: you’ll help ensure high availability for systems used every day by internal teams across the country. Expect variety, collaboration with vendors, and the chance to sharpen your scripting and automation skills.
The role
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows/Linux servers (physical & virtual)
- Administer Active Directory, patching, backups, AV, and firewalls
- Support networks: switching, routing, DNS/DHCP, connectivity
- Provide responsive help desk support and participate in the on-call roster
- Deliver IT projects with vendors: deployment, testing, and troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate documentation and asset records; drive improvements
Your fit
- Proven infrastructure troubleshooting across Windows/Linux and virtualisation
- Hands-on with AD, patching, backups, and security controls
- Good networking fundamentals; comfortable with DNS/DHCP and firewalls
- Scripting skills (PowerShell and/or Python ideal); can interpret code
- Clear documentation, knowledge sharing, and customer-first mindset
- Calm under pressure, organised, and proactive
