About the role

Why You Would Like It

  • Lead a skilled team whilst staying hands-on with complex technical challenges
  • Shape the future of AI-enhanced cybersecurity and automation strategies
  • Work with enterprise-level networking, wireless, voice, and core infrastructure
  • Mentor engineers while driving innovation in software-defined networking
  • Balance leadership responsibilities with meaningful technical contribution
The Opportunity

This organisation is at an exciting inflection point, embracing AI and automation to revolutionise how they deliver networking and cybersecurity services. As they expand their technical capabilities and client base, they need a technical leader who can guide their Networks and Cybersecurity division forward whilst maintaining the high standards that have built their reputation.
You'll join at a time when the company is investing heavily in automation tools, AI-enhanced security platforms, and software-defined networking solutions. Your expertise will directly influence their technology roadmap and help establish new industry standards.

Company Profile

This well-established technology solutions provider specialises in delivering comprehensive networking, cybersecurity, wireless, and voice solutions to enterprise clients. With a strong focus on innovation and client satisfaction, they maintain a collaborative culture that values continuous learning and technical excellence. The company is known for its forward-thinking approach to integrating automation and AI into traditional infrastructure services.

The Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on technical leader to drive their network and cybersecurity engineering practice. In this role, you will:
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of engineers across networking, wireless, cybersecurity, and physical security platforms (Fortinet, Arista, Ruckus, Genetec).
  • Provide senior-level technical leadership across the full project lifecycle — from pre-sales solution design and architecture to commissioning, handover, and operational support.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex infrastructure and cybersecurity challenges during client deployments.
  • Champion the integration of Zero Trust architecture, AI-driven automation, and Fortinet Security Fabric solutions into client environments.
  • Drive adoption of design standards, secure configuration baselines, and repeatable deployment patterns.
  • Oversee team resource planning, technical delivery, and workload prioritisation across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Lead regular project reviews with the Executive and Delivery teams, ensuring alignment on outcomes, risk posture, and operational readiness.
  • Maintain and evolve internal platforms and engineering toolkits, including documentation, change controls, and incident response frameworks.
  • Implement and refine cybersecurity strategies for both client systems and internal infrastructure—spanning NGFW, SD-WAN, endpoint, and physical access control.
Your Fit
  • Deep technical expertise in Fortinet platforms (e.g., FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiSwitch, FortiClient EMS), plus exposure to Palo Alto, Arista, Ruckus, and Genetec highly desirable.
  • Proven experience delivering complex network and security architecture across verticals like hospitality, transport, education, or enterprise.
  • Leadership experience building and scaling technical teams, while guiding project delivery in dynamic or multi-vendor environments.
  • Solid grasp of Zero Trust principles, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi segmentation, and multi-site access control.
  • Hands-on capability in areas such as:
  • NGFW configuration and hardening
  • Wi-Fi (Ruckus, Aruba, or similar)
  • Layer 2/3 switching (Arista, Cisco)
  • SIEM integration and alerting workflows
  • Experience designing and implementing secure managed service delivery models, with understanding of SLA metrics, compliance auditing, and penetration testing.
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting, AI-enhanced tooling (e.g., FortiAI, Cortex), and cloud-native platforms (Azure/AWS).
  • Comfortable engaging clients and vendors, presenting solutions to C-level stakeholders, and translating technical concepts into business outcomes.
  • Holds (or is working towards) relevant certifications — e.g., Fortinet NSE-4/5/7/8, CCNP Security, CISSP, or Arista ACE.
 Why Join Our Client?
  • Work with cutting-edge infrastructure across cybersecurity, networking, and physical security domains.
  • Lead major projects with enterprise and critical infrastructure clients across ANZ.
  • Join a forward-thinking team that values innovation, technical depth, and leadership development.
