We are seeking a junior/graduate Front End Developer to join a digital team creating applications that support education across New Zealand. This role is perfect for someone passionate about crafting seamless, efficient, and accessible web applications that enhance user experiences.

About the Role

As a Junior Front End Developer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing user-facing features. Working closely with UX designers and full-stack developers, you will build high-quality, reusable front-end components using modern frameworks. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Developing new user-facing features using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.
  • Ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and implementing responsive and accessible interfaces.
  • Optimizing applications for speed, scalability, and cross-device compatibility.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders to continuously improve digital solutions.
  • Building and maintaining reusable code libraries.
  • Conducting code reviews and mentoring junior developers.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:
  • Passion for frontend development with some hands-on React experience
  • Strong foundation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
  • Knowledge of or willingness to quickly learn JSON data handling
  • Analytical mindset and strong appetite for learning new technologies
  • Collaborative approach and enthusiasm for seeking feedback
  • Bonus points for Git experience, accessibility knowledge, or backend basics

Desirable:
  • Relevant certification in Web or Graphic Design.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Previous work with JSON data structures.
