About the role

The Opportunity:

Join a global building informatics and security leader at a pivotal moment of hardware innovation. Here, you’ll collaborate with engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to drive a streamlined, modernised product portfolio. This is an opportunity to shape the hardware strategy for a business that’s scaling fast, transforming customer experience through smart, secure, and efficient devices.

You’ll lead the day-to-day strategy of a broad hardware suite while playing a critical role in an ambitious refresh of the core product line.

Company Profile:

This forward-thinking company is an international leader in on-site and remote security, building management, and control systems. Its hardware products integrate seamlessly with sensors and machine vision, playing a critical role in a connected ecosystem that delivers intuitive, data-driven building experiences. With deep expertise in embedded systems and IoT and Cloud connectivity, the business delivers reliable, scalable solutions trusted by tens of thousands of companies worldwide. As it continues to grow, the company is focused on evolving its hardware portfolio - streamlining production, enabling offshore manufacturing, and optimising for performance and simplicity. The next phase of its growth centres on building smarter, leaner hardware to support an expanding SaaS software and Cloud platform capability.

The Role:

As Product Manager – Hardware Portfolio, you will own the performance and direction of their hardware products. Working closely with the CPO and cross-functional teams, you’ll lead both the strategic refresh of their core hardware line and help optimise production through offshore and local partnerships.

You will drive:

Portfolio Strategy: Lead the product strategy for a full suite of hardware, considering the full product lifecycle, business objectives, and production efficiency.

Product Simplification: Oversee consolidation and streamline the product line to reduce complexity while preserving capability and customer value.

Manufacturing Transitions: Support the move of key product lines offshore, ensuring production quality and capacity scale-up.

Commercial Focus: Apply a commercial lens to decision-making, balancing cost, value, and delivery. Champion the “why” of product investments and outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering, sales, marketing, support, and manufacturing, to ensure alignment and readiness across the product journey.

Customer-Centric Discovery: Engage with customers early and often to validate concepts, test prototypes, and refine based on real-world needs.

Your Fit:

We’re looking for a commercially savvy, delivery-oriented product thinker with experience across hardware lifecycles and manufacturing partnerships. You’ll have a background in electronics and/or hardware engineering, embedded systems, or a closely related field, and a passion for simplifying complexity. You love solving problems, driving efficiency, and delivering products that work beautifully in the hands of customers.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring hands-on experience working with manufacturing partners, and have a proven track record in leading hardware lifecycle management and production transitions.

You’ve previously taken a hardware line through rationalisation, reducing complexity while maintaining capability. Your experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner in a high-tech environment has equipped you with the commercial acumen and technical confidence to make smart, savvy customer-centric decisions. Most importantly, you lead with a customer mindset and enjoy working in an environment where technical depth meets tangible impact.

If you’re excited by the opportunity to lead hardware strategy in a company that’s innovating at scale, we want to hear from you. Apply now to shape the future of secure, intelligent hardware experiences.

Please note, only applications from job seekers who hold a valid work visa / permanent residents or NZ citizens, presently based in New Zealand, will be considered.
