Product Manager - Software Specialist (12 months)
About the role
The company:
With over a decade of global partnerships, they've built a reputation for producing the type of interface software and integrated hardware solutions that can be used with global commercial electronics manufactures by plugging in to their product catalogue simply. Their intuitive design and analytics capability makes them a strong choice for organisations that require any type of touchscreen interface globally.
Why now:
They’re entering an exciting growth phase. With a strong pipeline of product initiatives and a commitment to ramping up delivery capability, the need has emerged for a 12 months fixed-term Product Manager (Software Specialist) to join the team.
Working closely with the Chief Product Officer, this is a key role - one that brings together strategy, delivery, and stakeholder alignment. You’ll help shape and drive a product roadmap that bridges technical feasibility, commercial value, and user impact.
Your role:
This is a hands-on product leadership position, ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution. You’ll own software product delivery across both in-house and offshore teams, translating customer needs into tangible solutions and leading complex projects with clarity and focus.
You’ll bring pace, precision, and pragmatism - collaborating across geographies and functions to deliver product outcomes that truly move the needle.
The role breaks down into these core components:
Product Leadership:
Translate customer problems into meaningful product requirements and user stories. Own the backlog, prioritise with purpose, and connect user needs to technical feasibility. Draw from market insight, client feedback, and delivery context to guide the roadmap and execution.
Execution & Delivery:
Work closely with Software Engineers, QA, and Design to drive feature development and product enhancements. Navigate context switching with ease and maintain clarity even in high-cognitive-load environments. Keep delivery sharp by balancing scope, timelines, and trade-offs effectively.
Strategic & Commercial Contribution:
Partner with the CPO and leadership team to ensure delivery aligns with business goals. Support pre-sales efforts by contributing to estimates, statements of work, and client-facing documentation. Be proactive in identifying risks, shaping mitigation plans, and keeping communication clear with stakeholders.
Remote Collaboration:
This business runs a hybrid delivery model, with remote engineering teams across Vietnam, China, and the Philippines. You’ll need to demonstrate a strong track record of collaborating across time zones and cultures - bringing remote teams into the fold, valuing their input, and ensuring they’re integrated into the product journey.
People & Team Support:
While this role may not have formal direct reports initially, it plays an important leadership role within the wider product and QA function. You’ll be an advocate for quality, supporting the QA team operationally and helping review timesheets and priorities. People management experience is a bonus - but empathy, clarity, and team spirit are essential.
The Fit:
You’re an experienced Product Manager who leads from the front. Hands-on and delivery-focused, you’re comfortable managing complexity and balancing competing demands. You’ve ideally got the project management skills to oversee both hardware and software efforts, and the technical confidence to challenge assumptions and hold the team to a high standard.
You bring a deep understanding of agile product development, a natural instinct for prioritisation, and an ability to zoom in and out - from stakeholder needs to user stories to delivery metrics.
Most importantly, you know how to work across cultures and geographies. You value your remote teammates, build strong relationships regardless of distance, and know how to create a shared sense of ownership across the product lifecycle.
Please note, only applications from job seekers who hold a valid work visa / permanent residents or NZ citizens, presently based in New Zealand, will be considered.
