About the role

The Opportunity:

Shape and deliver a next-generation integration capability for this product-led business as it scales into new enterprise markets. As part of a broader move toward an marketplace-style, API-first integration platform, this role is key to ensuring the company’s products communicate easily and elegantly with a growing ecosystem of third-party systems—think video, lifts, building automation, parking, and more.
The building blocks are in place, but this is a chance to lead from the ground up: designing and standardising APIs, defining patterns, and enabling rapid, repeatable connections that reduce time to integration to hours or days - not weeks. With increasing global demand and a shift toward enterprise, this is a technical leadership role that directly shapes product capability and long-term growth.

Company profile:

Join a forward-thinking company that is a global leader in insitu and remote security and building management and control systems. Integrations harnessing machine vision and sensors abound. These products, when unified, provide a rich customer experience by leveraging IoT connectivity and seamless data sharing.  This is generating scaled data assets and predictable insights. Founded with a vision for simplicity in innovation, today, its products and systems are trusted by tens of thousands of companies worldwide. The next generation of its growth builds on its current SaaS offering and building a scaled platform to capture device data and service up insights, controls and capability.

Your role:

You’ll take ownership of the integration direction and delivery, starting with video management systems (VMS) and progressively covering other third parties in control, and building management to generate an outstanding customer experience platform. The integrations vary, but they all need to be clean, consistent, and easily adoptable - supporting both real-time and event-driven use cases.

You’ll lead the function and work closely with product management, a dedicated offshore engineering team, and external technical teams to bring clarity, direction, and execution to the integration roadmap. This role doesn’t include direct team management, but you will work closely with an experienced offshore tech lead and engineering squad who will execute the work, enabling you to focus on technology leadership, integration design, and stakeholder and customer alignment. Expect some travel to Vietnam to meet the offshore counterparts. One week per quarter is ideal, but it’s flexible depending on what works best.

The fit:

You’re an experienced technical leader who thrives at the intersection of architecture, strategy, and delivery. You’ve built scalable, developer-friendly APIs before, and you know how to standardise integrations in a way that makes adoption fast and frictionless. You understand the real-world complexity of connecting systems - especially in enterprise or physical environments - and have strong instincts for balancing technical purity with practical execution.
You may have a background in IoT, security systems, enterprise SaaS, or smart infrastructure, and you’re confident working with multiple vendors and systems integrators. You’re not precious about tools or clouds, but you have strong technical principles and a track record of shipping scalable, well-architected solutions.
You’re also comfortable working with offshore teams and know how to communicate, influence, and lead without needing to manage people directly. There’s room to grow into broader leadership if you want it, but right now you’re excited by the chance to own something foundational and build it well.

The Stack & Context:

  • Tech stack includes C#/.NET and is currently hosted in Azure, though there’s flexibility depending on future platform needs (AWS, GCP all on the table).

  • The business is adopting a fully API-first mindset—REST for now, with GraphQL and other approaches on the horizon.

  • Integration priorities include:
    VMS (Video Management Systems)
    Lift and elevator systems
    Smart building and BMS tools
    Parking and tenant experience platforms

  • You’ll work with partners globally, so standardisation and ease-of-integration are key.

  • You’ll lead the integration approach for multiple products, including those deployed in cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments depending on customer needs.

  • Experience working with offshore teams, especially in asynchronous delivery models, is essential.

Please note, only applications from job seekers who hold a valid work visa / permanent residents or NZ citizens, presently based in New Zealand, will be considered.
