About the role

The role:
This is your chance to take the lead in GIS innovation, shaping the way spatial data informs major projects across Christchurch. As a Senior GIS Analyst, you’ll be the go-to expert for creating high-quality maps and applications in ArcGIS Pro and managing the ESRI Enterprise Portal.

Beyond the tech, this role is all about stakeholder engagement—gathering requirements, advising on best practices, and confidently managing relationships with senior leaders to ensure project success.

What you’ll be doing:

• Designing and delivering sophisticated maps and applications in ArcGIS Pro.
• Conducting complex spatial analysis, particularly for critical infrastructure projects.
• Administering and improving the ESRI Enterprise Portal, enhancing self-service GIS capabilities.
• Working closely with stakeholders—gathering requirements, managing expectations, and providing expert guidance.
• Mentoring and collaborating with intermediate team members to share insights and strengthen team capability.
• Actively contributing to meetings, bringing GIS expertise and learning about council operations.

What we’re looking for:

• 6+ years of GIS experience (flexible for the right candidate).
• Expertise in ArcGIS Pro and ESRI Enterprise Portal, with a track record of building intuitive GIS maps and applications.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, able to engage and influence senior leaders.
• A collaborative mindset, open to learning from junior colleagues as much as sharing your own expertise.
• A genuine drive to learn and adapt—ego-free, team-first mentality.
