About the Role | Mō te Tūranga

The Information Manager will lead the data, library, and records management functions, ensuring they meet the compliance and knowledge needs of the organization. This role is pivotal in driving information governance, improving data sharing and accessibility, and creating a data-centric culture.
You’ll be responsible for implementing data governance frameworks, overseeing compliance with public sector obligations (e.g., Public Records Act, Archives NZ Standards), and leading a multi-disciplinary team to support scientific research.

Key Responsibilities | Ngā Haepapa Matua

  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for data, records, and information management.
  • Lead a team to ensure efficient information governance, compliance, and security.
  • Support the transition from legacy file shares to modern digital platforms like SharePoint.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in data curation, metadata management, and digital preservation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, IT teams, and scientific staff.
  • Oversee data sharing agreements and ensure alignment with Māori Data Sovereignty principles.
About You | Mōu
  • Proven experience in information, data, or records management leadership roles.
  • Expertise in data governance, compliance frameworks, and public sector information standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead from the front, nurture teams and support individual growth of staff
  • Familiarity with digital transformation initiatives, including SharePoint migration and metadata management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and drive cultural change around data sharing.
  • Experience leading teams and implementing data-driven strategies.
  • Understanding of Māori Data Sovereignty and commitment to bicultural data practices.
