Role: VP Engineering

As a key player in a company poised for growth and transformation, the VP of Engineering will be at the helm of a technological uplift journey that is reshaping the future and resilience of the technology IP. The role provides the opportunity to work alongside the CTO, helping to lead critical initiatives across engineering practices, platform reliability, and technology mandates, while delivering innovative solutions that drive customer satisfaction. With a focus on people performance, tech robustness and the standardisation of technology practices, the VP of Engineering will play a vital and visible role. This is a leadership position that combines vision with execution, and the ability to influence the direction of the company’s technology ecosystem and its people.

Core initiatives:

People and Culture:
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across engineering teams. Invest in the development of your people to build a high-performing, resilient workforce.

Technology Uplift:
Lead efforts to enhance engineering and people capabilities, foster collaboration, and drive team performance through strategic roadmaps. Focus on continuous improvement by measuring progress with key metrics such as the Engineering Index.

Delivery and Operational Excellence:
Build repeatable processes that improve efficiency and predictability in engineering delivery. Develop operational frameworks that reduce incident frequency and improve reliability, using metrics to guide improvements in testing, quality assurance, and incident response.

Platform Reliability and Modernisation:
Lead initiatives to enhance the performance and reliability of critical platforms, addressing immediate needs while modernising for the future. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to optimise platform capabilities.

Standardisation, Automation, and Technology Mandates:
Drive the standardisation of development environments and practices across teams, promoting the adoption of Infrastructure as Code and automation tools. Define and implement non-negotiable Technology Mandates to ensure high standards of execution, continuously refining these practices.

Your Fit:

If you thrive in solving complex challenges and driving systemic improvements, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact. You’ll join a company that is committed to delivering exceptional customer and employee experiences but is facing platform instability that needs strong, decisive leadership to resolve. With a focus on people leadership, building robust engineering practices, improving delivery reliability, and addressing critical architectural issues, you’ll be at the forefront of driving this movement.

This role is ideal for a seasoned executive or large-scale technical leader who excels in high-pressure environments, leading leaders, can balance short-term fixes with long-term strategy, inspire and align teams toward shared goals. Balance immediate fixes with the need for foundational improvements that enable long-term scalability and reliability.
