Be a key leader in the end-to-end build of a greenfields Snowflake platform, in an initial 2-year fixed term position. You'll work with a small but capable team on a significant strategic project, combining data from multiple sources using modern tools like dbt, to ensure the critical growth and development of their ongoing data practices.
This role can be worked from our client's Wellington or Christchurch offices.
Duties include:
- Design and build the new Snowflake data platform from inception
- Develop data transformations using dbt within the Snowflake environment
- Create ETL processes combining data from existing and new sources
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and technology vendors
- Understand differences between various data sets
- Design broader data functions and ETL architecture
- Document data pipelines thoroughly for maintainability
- Contribute insurance industry expertise to data processes
To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
- Extensive hands-on Snowflake experience with data ingestion and transformation
- Experience with dbt or similar modern data transformation tools
- Strong understanding of dimensional data modelling principles
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data engineering tasks
- Insurance or financial services domain knowledge preferred
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git version control
- Knowledge of data security processes and frameworks
- Excellent communication skills with technical and business stakeholders
- Detail-oriented approach with strong documentation habits
- Collaborative mindset with willingness to share knowledge
