The Story:
This bio-science service provider is a critical lifeline to the people of New Zealand, with their advanced research and technical product manufacturing ensuring a better life for kiwis across the country and beyond. One the team's long serving engineers is sadly moving overseas, which has given rise to this exciting opportunity. They are looking for a Senior infrastructure Engineer who can manage; all desktop activities for over 500 devices; key server environments, and; act as technical lead for more critical infrastructure projects. And this is where you come in!

Role Snapshot:
A main feature of the role is to act as the tech lead for more critical projects as required, e.g. Citrix upgrades. Day-to-day you will be responsible for; onsite project implementations; desktop patching, configurations and updates in SCCM; mobile device maintenance; server management of Active Directory and Citrix; Microsoft Lync, and; general PC, network and server security and quality checking. The assigned IT service provider manages the WAN, SAN V-LAN and helpdesk, so that means that you will manage them in their role - upholding SLAs, understanding the organisation's changing needs, and delivering resources in a timely fashion.

This is an opportunity to be the company's 'go-to-guy' for all desktop and server operational and project activities. You will work with the junior engineers to help them set-up users and deal with user issues and queries as they arise. You will enjoy the challenge of joining a well-established organisation, but one which is constantly adopting customised PC solutions and building new customised, technical products. Your fresh approach and genuine passion for learning about new technology problems (and technological opportunities) will put you in the best position for success in this role.

What we need to see in your background:
  • You are already a Senior Engineer (5+ years), with hands-on experience managing Microsoft Infrastructure environments.
  • You have a proven background of variety across Microsoft Windows Desktop OS, Windows Servers, Citrix and remote desktop services.
  • You've worked in ITIL environments
  • You have had exposure to Azure and Office365 environments - implementing and troubleshooting [this will be an upcoming project for the team].
  • You have a strong capability with networking capabilities (WAN, LAN, SAN).
  • First rate communication skills (both in person and remotely) and problem management skills are essential.
  • A great pride in your work, passion for driving user satisfaction, and a good sense of humour to boot.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person. If you're looking to join a top-class organisation with great progression opportunities, send me through your CV as soon as you can.

Please note that to be considered for this role you will need to hold a valid NZ Work Visa or NZ Residency or NZ Citizenship.
