Diversity in Tech: Event Recap

We recently hosted a highly interactive session on Diversity in Tech on 14 March as part of the Potentia Conversations series of events.  These conversation series are much awaited and quickly over-subscribed and this was no different.  The facilitated panel-led conversation discussed topics ranging from women’s views to the arrival of the millennial baby-boom and LBGTI inclusiveness in tech firms. 

Cultural diversity issue was debated and it was noted that the cultural diversity problem does exist – however, it was recognised that this was a mere representation of how things stand in society and workplace in general.  The unintended consequence of the emergence of the new white male minority was tabled as was the advent of racism towards darker coloured robots and intelligent systems learning human prejudices.

The panel consisted of Kim Gordon (Executive Director ITNewcom); Nuwanthie Samarakone (CEO ICE Professionals); Flynn van Os (Potentia Scholar ’17 and Graduate-in-Residence) and Simon Cumberlege (Technical Platform Manager healthAlliance).

It was a great event, and we hope those who joined us enjoyed the discussions.
